September 2018 update by David Hodkinson
Once again, a bunch of men left the safety of Rochdale to face the challenges of a weekend up in the Lake District. The first obstacle was to overcome Ollie’s quiz on the Friday night. The star of the show was definitely Steve ‘Tannhauser’ Mellor.
Saturday morning was time to face the rigours of Lake Coniston. Kayaks, single and Canadian canoes were
used to criss cross the Lake and engage in all kinds of fun. A certain unruly element spent most of their time devising different methods of jumping in the Lake. Mentioning nobody in particular, but Scott, Jack, Joe and James spring to mind. The afternoon was spent sailing on the Lake, gorge walking in the Langdale valley or relaxing
around Low Ground Centre.
A huge bonfire was lit by the lake shore built from wood which had been collected throughout the day. There we shared stories around the campfire of what God is doing in our lives whist enjoying a BBQ feast. A fantastic evening.
On Sunday morning we were privileged to worship God together with singing, sharing His word and praying for
each other. We are so grateful to God for giving us this time together when we could enjoy His creation, have
fun and fellowship together and with our Heavenly Father.
