WHAT TO EXPECT
The Freedom In Christ Course is a 10 session discipleship course, perfect for small groups.

TRUTH
Flexible teaching sessions revealing the truth of who we are in Christ and the reality of the spiritual battle, with Pause for Thought times

TURNING
The Steps To Freedom In Christ forms the ministry component of the course, helping us turn to Jesus through a "spiritual MOT"

TRANSFORMATION
The final key is "Stronghold-busting" - being transformed by the renewal of our minds, demolishing arguments set up against God.

Session 0 Why believe the Bible?
Optional introductory session, especially useful for those new to faith, that shows why we can believe that the Bible is true, and is God’s message to His people.

Session 1  Who am I?
Adam and Eve had life in all its fullness - perfectly accepted, secure, and significant - but lost it in the fall. Jesus came to restore that very same life and those who receive Him become brand new creations in Christ. Knowing that we are now “holy ones” who can come boldly into God’s presence without condemnation changes everything.

Session 2 Choosing To Believe The Truth
Everyone lives by faith, even those who are not Christians. It’s who or what we put our faith in that determines whether or not it will be effective. As Christians, it’s essential that what we believe is in agreement with what God has revealed in His Word which shows us how things really are.

Session 3 The World’s View Of Truth
The world distorts the way we see the Truth. It makes its relentless appeal to us and paints a complete but false picture of our reality — our worldview. When we become Christians we need to make a radical decision to start seeing the Truth from God’s perspective - by adopting a Biblical Worldview which is “how God says it is”.

Session 4 Our Daily Choice
Christians have a new heart and a new spirit, but we still struggle with “the flesh”. We don’t have to give in to it though. We can choose day by day and moment by moment whether to live according to the flesh’s urges or according to the promptings of the Holy Spirit.

Session 5 The Battle For Our Minds
We are in a spiritual battle. Every day we face a battle between truth and lies and the battleground is our minds. However, understanding how Satan works and our amazing position in Christ will equip us to win.

Session 6 Handling Emotions Well
Our emotions are based largely on what we choose to believe. A wrong understanding of God and His Word, of who we are in Christ, or a faulty life-goal will be signalled to us through our emotions. Committing ourselves to the truth and choosing to believe that what God says is true, will ensure we handle our emotions well and protect us from spiritual attack.

Sesion 7 Forgiving From The Heart
Our relationship with others must have the same basis as our relationship with God. Nothing keeps you in bondage more, or gives the enemy more influence, than unforgiveness. Forgiveness is not so much between you and the person who has offended you, but between you and God. Learning to forgive from the heart sets us free from our past and heals our emotional pain.

Session 8 Renewing The Mind
How we grew up, traumatic experiences, giving in to temptation all lead to “strongholds” in our minds preventing us living according to the truth. We became aware of some of these during The Steps To Freedom In Christ. We can demolish strongholds by choosing to renew our minds to the truth of God’s Word and we will learn a strategy — stronghold-busting” — to help us do this.

Session 9 Relating To Others
The one thing that Jesus prayed for those who came after His first disciples — that’s us — is that we would be one, so that the world would know that we are His disciples. His great commandment says we are to love the Lord our God with all our hearts, souls, and minds, and to love our neighbour as ourselves. A right relationship with God should lead to a right relationship with others.

Session 10 What Next?
God’s life-goal for us is that we become more and more like Jesus in character. Bringing our own goals into line with that will enable us to live a life of true freedom. True success, fulfilment, and satisfaction depend on us uncovering and throwing out false beliefs and committing ourselves to believing the truth in God’s Word.

Planning your Visit

A Warm Hello

The following information is specifically for those planning a visit, so that you know, beforehand, what to expect on a Sunday morning.

Where and When

We meet at the Church Building (details here) for our Sunday Service starting at 10:30am. For your first visit, we recommend arriving 10-15 minutes early to ensure you get a parking space and find somewhere to sit before the service begins. When you arrive, you should be greeted by someone on our Welcome Team.

We serve tea, coffee and biscuits from 10am, before the service begins. It is a great way to meet people, or simply take time to find your bearings. All refreshments are free.

Accessibility: There is wheelchair access for anyone who needs it. Please let one of the Welcome Team know on your arrival and they will help you to get set up. There are disabled toilets in the building.

Our Service

The main service begins at 10.30am with a warm welcome from one of our team members. Then follows a time of sung worship, led by our band. We typically have 2 or 3 songs lasting approximately 20 minutes. Sometimes a person might pray out loud or read a small passage from the bible. Sometimes people share things that they believe God is saying to the whole church family. We also share communion together as a church family. We invite you to join in with communion with us if you know Jesus as your Saviour. We then share news and notices, usually about what’s going on in the life of the church. One of our leaders will then give a sermon that is bible based and that we can apply to our everyday life. We then finish with a final worship song. Sometimes there is an opportunity to receive prayer at the end of the service.

What about my kids?

We have a great programme lined up for kids of all ages:

  • Creche area(0 months to 3/4years). This is in a small area at the back of the main hall. It has changing facilities for babies and some age appropriate toys. All children must be accompanied by their parent/grown-up at all times.
  • The Pride of Hebron is our Sunday School and is split into two classes of Lion cubs (reception/KS1) and Roaring Lions (KS2-Yr 7)
  • Youth (12+ years) Stay in service.

Children stay with their parent/carer or grown-up at the start of the service for the welcome, songs, communion and notices. We really value worshipping God all together as a family. At the end of the notices someone will announce that it’s time for the younger members to go to their various groups.

The kids group activities vary depending on the age but usually there is a friendly welcome, bible stories, testimonies, praying, music, craft, drama, fun games and free play.

Getting Connected

Small Groups

While Sundays are a great way to meet new people, it is often in smaller gatherings that you can really get to know someone. Being part of one of our small groups allows you to make new friends, share together and support each other. We have a variety of groups that meet throughout the week, some afternoons and some evenings. Check out Small Groups and see if there’s one that you could join, or we can put you in touch with a small group leader who will be more than happy to invite you along to their group.
